From a hawk's eye view, you could see a brown haired lass who was about seventeen. See I was hiking, with a camel pack on my back. Sucking on some water ravenously. I was setting out for a lake that seems to escape most experienced hikers round here. But, it was no problem for a fox shifter. Having been up here several times before as a fox, I remember some clever ways round. Iphones in my ears, I listened to my good music. Not paying attention to where I was going, I hiked up the mountain. Turning around, my eyes adjusting to the light oxygen. It was slowly departing from my body with ever step I took. Getting higher and higher. My body cried out in protest from breathing in such air. And I found myself sucking on the camel back more often from dehydration. Blinking once or twice, my feet stopped suddenly. Getting light-headed, I saw black boxes covering up my eye sight. Pannicking slightly, I sat down immediately.
Never having hiked a mountain this high up, I saw snow on the top. Which made me decide to head back down, but I could barely move. In fact, losing oxygen put me in a state of helplessness. Resorting to the best solution possible, I felt my hands change. A red tail forming, ears top my head and a muzzle stead of my mouth. Bone cracking and the occasional grunt from me. No one said shifting was easy. Nor un-painful. Black paws pressed on the ground, my camel back pack hadn't changed with me. And rested on my shoulders. The vixen didn't like anything on top of her. Shaking it off and racing into the bushes.
Having been up this way many times before, the vixen sped off in the opposite direction before being able to breath properly again. See, before I had collapsed. The vixen was enjoying a nap, and it was fairly cranky right now. Sneaking through the bushes, and appearing at the edge of a cliff. I saw through her eyes a large lake. It's water reflected the blue sky and looked fairly peaceful. Looking round the cliff, I realized what the vixen was going to do. I fought to take control, and finally managed with much struggle from the vixen. Slowly, I turned back into a human. Clothes and all. But there was one bad thing.
I was falling down.
Letting out a shriek that could be heard from a long distance away, I grabbed onto anything that was available. The first thing that came was a ledge, but that broke off because of my momentum. I grabbed at a root, getting a good grip and slammed into the wall. Now, I was covered in scratches and bruises. Mainly along my arms and legs luckily enough. There was a deep gouge above my eye, and everything hurt. I could barely hold onto the root, my eyes going foggy as my clothes were being torn to shreds by the bushes.
Slowly... I let go.
Falling again, and as I hit the water below the only thing I thought was... 'Swim for your life! Don't die yet! There's so much to live for!' Not realizing it fully yet, I swam slowly towards the shore. Blood washing off of me from the waves. Leaving a trail of deep maroon.
Reaching the shore was hard. Pulling myself onto the sand was harder. I turned onto my back, resting for a few seconds before I blacked out completely. Muttering quietly... "help..."

The jaws of the massive being suddenly closed gently onto the back of the girl's shirt. The animal pulled her further from the water, and propped her up against a large log. "Honey, honey are you ok?" A huge paw touched the girl's cheek gently, huge claws protruding out and resting against the soaking skin. In a moment, the claws retracted, changing into thin fingernails on a normal, human hand. The hand lifted the girl's head, and one thumb pulled back a lid, checking her pupils, was she still alive?
---
Chloe had been enjoying the day - it was somewhat of her day off, something she didn't get much of. She had left her cell phone in her room, and set out to get some peace and quiet. Chloe had always loved the outdoors, and the forest was usually the first place she came whenever she got the time. But it wasn't all relaxation - the day was still meant to be beneficial, just in a different way. The female stood at the bottom of one of the mountains, gazing up into the bright, blue sky. She began her trek through the trees, but soon grew tired of her thick jacket and boots. Plus, sooner or later, the atmosphere would get too thin for a typical human to survive. So, Chloe decided to have a bit of fun. She closed her vibrant eyes with a smile, and quickly shifted into an elegant mountain lion. At that point, her muscular legs raced up the mountain. Boulders and trees weren't obstacles in the least, her agility carried her flawlessly over and around them all.
Finally, she had made it to the perfect spot, overlooking the giant lake. It was gorgeous, serene, peaceful, untouched by human infrastructure and technology. And the best part? It would be like this forever. Well, what do you know? A good thing about causing shifters to leave. It would forever be a dense barrier between the shifter world and the "normal" human world, so no one would ever dare destroying it. It was at that point that something caught Chloe's sharp eyes, off in the distance. It was a little fox, darting in and out of the trees. Instantly, Chloe's instincts knew that this was a shifter - anyone else would've had a hard time distinguishing between a real fox, but Chloe had experience, and she made the distinction right away. Slowly, Chloe stood from her position, stretching out her lean muscles. Perhaps the fox shifter would like some company - while it was supposed to be her alone time, Chloe still didn't mind interacting with others.
So finally, Chloe had made her way to the place where she saw the fox, and she looked around. However, the shifter was no where in sight, and Chloe stood motionless for a moment, perplexed at the situation. Just then, she heard something behind her, and turned around just in time to see the being go off the cliff, and change into a teenage girl. Chloe's heart skipped a beat, and then she was off - rushing down the side of the cliff as fast as she could, towards the banks of the river. When she finally felt the soft sand underneath her large paws, the cougar looked around frantically, spotting the girl down further on the bank.
The jaws of the massive being suddenly closed gently onto the back of the girl's shirt. The animal pulled her further from the water, and propped her up against a large log. "Honey, honey are you ok?" A huge paw touched the girl's cheek gently, sharp claws protruding out and resting against the soaking skin. In a moment, the claws retracted, changing into thin fingernails on a normal, human hand. The hand lifted the girl's head, and one thumb pulled back a lid, checking her pupils, was she still alive?
Chloe felt for a pulse, and couldn't help but release a small sigh of relief as she felt the beating underneath her fingers. The female did not know CPR - which was something she realized, at this point, that she should've learned - and she did not want to do more harm than good, so she decided against this method. Instead, she continued patting the girl's cold cheek, attempting to wake her up. "Please honey, wake up...stay with me."

There was darkness.. Swirlin round my head like a tornado. I could hear someone calling out my name. But my human body like this was having a hard time responding. I guess shifter instincts took over cause somehow, I switched back to a fox. My fur was dirty from the lapping waves, and I listened to the sound with ease. But something inside kept on fighting the ease. Constantly screaming, 'If you don't wake up your gonna die! Hurry! Hurry and wake up while you can!!' At this, I felt my eyes open. Adjusting to the sudden light, I looked around.
Fox ears perked up to see a woman above me, I recognized her as a friend from the instincts. And I was glad that she wasn't an enemy. That could've been bad. For me and them. Anyways looking up to my rescuer, my fur covered in water. Vision was still blurry, and I could barely get up let alone transform again. Stupid me, I forgot that as a fox the damage to my head is a bit worse than my other form. Rasping out, not used to talking like a fox, I said wearily "Mighty big fall I took..." I coughed up some water, a dizzying feeling washing over me again. My body could've been in better condition. And thankfully, the vixen seemed to be knocked out from the fall so I was in control for now.
Taking another glimpse at my rescuer, I recognized her immediately. I had never met my rescuer till now, and I had heard her name a ton before. Laying on my side, I said, "Your.. your the counselor right? The one for girls..." Another coughing spasm, my heart was beating fast. The un-nerving sensation of numbness creeping up my left arm. Looking at it with my still blurry vision, I licked at the wound. My tail wrapped round my body to keep warm, the sand digging into my tender fox skin annoyed the hell out of me.
After a few moments of coughing, I shivered. Mumbling softly, "warmth... mum... please... don't.. don't send me 'way..." more coughing. The pain in my chest raged like a wild sea. My eyes closed shut, body looked a ton smaller when wet. Shivering constantly, I curled into a small ball to keep warmth in the middle. After a few moments, I forgot about the counselor. My main concern was survival and warmth. Wild instincts raking my body wildly. Slowly, I stopped shivering. My body warmth returning slowly.
I had passed out, my dreams came in a flurry of visions. From the past mainly, as I dimly watched I saw much more of my granma then me mum. This made me realize that the only one truely missing me was my granma. Not my mum, or pa. I was just.. obsolete to them. They could have more children, they were still young. I mumble in my dreams, and being passed out I vaguely said, "There... anyone..... for......... me...?" Unaware of saying that through a mutter, I slept on in my greiving dreams. The time at my granma's was happier then at my mom and dad's. They didn't write to me anymore anyways.
Was there really any use to this?
Any reason to live?
Those became unclear to me. As the minutes... no hours passed by, I was passed out. I could hear what the kids at the dorms would say. 'What a freak! Shifting when she's weak? Idiot!', 'Moron couldn't climb that high. No one can!', and finally... 'who would be idiotic enough to do something like that? To be fit? That's not much of a reason.'
My head floated with these questions, and the same small voice piped up. Calling out filled with hope and bravery, 'Don't care what they think! You'll be fine either way. And in the end, there will always be a tomorrow! Don't give in!'
Letting out a small sigh, I relaxed. Feeling a bit better after having some reinforcement from myself. My mumbling stopped, and you could tell that I visibly relaxed. It was times like those that you need support from yourself. Not others.

Chloe let out a relieved chuckle as the girl's voice rang through her ears. "Yes, yes...it was mighty big. Good thing you landed in water rather than on land." Chloe slowly began lifting each limb of the fox, running her hands over them gently to see if anything was broken. She couldn't feel anything, but that did not really mean anything - there could still be smaller breaks throughout her body. Chloe then looked back at the girl as she spoke again, addressing her correctly. Red hair bobbed up and down as Chloe shook her head in response, "Yes, I am the counselor...call me Chloe. What is your name honey? Does anything specifically hurt?" But the girl did not have the chance to answer, because she violently started coughing again.
The girl seemed to fade quickly from reality, mumbling almost incoherent speech. Luckily, Chloe had dealt with several similar situations in the past, as well as many different types of people, so she was able to piece together the words. "Its ok, I'm here...I won't leave, you're going to be safe." At this point, the girl was shivering uncontrollably, and after only a few more minutes, she passed out. Chloe stayed calm, and placed her hand on the head of the female vixen. She closed her eyes, concentrating, breathing slowly in and out. In moments, Chloe had changed the fox back into its girl form. Her soaked fur was now soft skin, which allowed the drops of liquid to fall off easier. At another instant, the silhouette of a cougar appeared in the very place where Chloe's lean form had been kneeling. She circled the girl, wrapping her body around her, allowing her thick pelt to act as a blanket.
---
Time passed by - Chloe was unaware of exactly how much time. The girl had stopped shivering a while ago, and Chloe had pulled her muscular, feline body away from the girl. She had transformed back into her human form, and was dialing and redialing on her cell phone. The frustration could be seen in her shimmering eyes - there was no signal out here in the forest, so she had not had any luck in contacting anyone who would be able to help.
Chloe closed her phone with a groan, and stuck it into her small backpack. She then walked over to the girl, and sat on the log next to her. Gently, she reached over and placed her feminine hand on top of the girl's wet hair. She stroked it gently, trying to comfort the girl even if she was unconscious. Though she was only twenty-three years old, Chloe had always had a bit of a motherly aspect to her. It wasn't that she looked older, she just seemed older...which is why she was chosen to be the counselor here. And, for this girl, her motherly instincts had taken over, and she was going to do everything she could to help her.

Black eyes. No, Black swirls.
Circling, unrelenting. It felt as if my body was numb, and my mind wasn't there. Oh god. What was happening?! Is this what those sky divers see if they crash into the ground before they pull the para shoot? No. No! NO! I don't want this! What the hell was going on?!! My mind was in a constant whirl before I saw something. In the far distance, was a faint white light. My eyes adjusted to the pretty spectacle, but I started to move away from it. I couldn't remember where I saw that... But it reminded me of the hospital... And how I almost died... I also walked away that time too.
Suddenly, I opened my eyes. Looking around, I saw the counselor lady and that I was still here. At the lake. Sliding my hands against the cool pebbles, I pushed myself up. Leaning on my hands and arms to support my weight. The ground was waving slightly, and I shook my head softly. Fairly sure that if I had shaken it hard, then I would be passed out again. Suddenly realizing that I was human instead of fox, I looked at my body in shock. "What the...I'm not a Vixen?" Thinking outloud on accident, I tried to stand up. My legs were shaky, and slightly numb. But could still hold my weight. If anything, I wasn't hurt to badly miraculously. Cept for my head, which was throbbing and pulsing with strokes of pain.
I took a few steps forward, slowly, cause my body still needed rest. The only thing I thought of was, when I get home I don't think I'm gonna go outside for the rest of the day. Thinking of all the things in there, and then of my granma worried sick cause I'm not replying to her emails nor her letters. That pushed me forward a bit.
Each step I took, I gained more strength. And soon enough, I was stretching to loosen my muscles. Sure, I had a fair gash on my shin, but it wasn't deep enough to cause heavy bleeding. Over all, I was slightly dizzy, bleeding from alot of scratches and deep cuts, and my head was throbbing.
I felt fine though! Better than an over active dog, and that was saying something.
Walking towards her with a slight limp, I called over her shoulder. "Oi. Miss. I think, it'd be best should we head down the mountain now. Eh?" My accent was British Australian. If it wasn't for the British, I'm fairly sure that she wouldn't have understood me just then. I smirked slightly, though my face was fairly blank. I turned around, slowly making my decent away from the lake and mountain. I was walking on the shore, not exactly checking back to see if she was following. My will to get back home was overpowering any other thoughts. And I'm very glad it did too. Otherwise, I'm fairly sure that I'd still be on the ground.
Stopping momentarily I rested on a rock, forgetting that it was still fairly high altitude up here was stupid of me. And I could only go so far without alot of oxygen. Closing my eyes for a second as I inhaled great amounts of air, I waited, saying to myself. "What a glorious hiking day this has been."
I looked behind to the counselor, blinking once or twice. Fairly determined to get down the mountain and away from here before sunset. Before we both had to resort to our animal forms to see in the dark, and I had no clue if her form would eat mine from hunger. Oh joy, what a great day I was having.

Chloe moaned in frustration as she shut her phone once more, then let out a disappointed sigh. But then, she heard something moving behind her, and she turned her whole body around. Her mouth widened into a smile as she saw the girl sitting up on her own. She walked quickly over to her, then lowered herself onto her knees. "Oh good! You're awake! Just stay here for a while and relax, you still look really weak." The girl then managed to speak, making the realization that she was once again a girl. "Yes yes, you're not a vixen anymore. I thought you'd dry faster in your human form." At that point, the girl tried to stand, and Chloe rose with her, holding her arms out just incase the girl began to fall.
The girl began walking away from her, and it almost seemed as if Chloe was non existent. She stood, a confused look on her face, as the girl walked away. Finally, the girl turned back to her, and finally spoke, causing Chloe to smile once again. "Chloe, call me Chloe...Miss makes me seem so...old..." She laughed as she walked towards the girl, and the mood seemed to lighten a bit...the girl was going to be ok.
After walking quite a ways, the girl seemed to be getting rather tired due to the thin air of the mountains...plus, she had just fallen off of a cliff. Chloe stopped as the girl sat on a large boulder, and Chloe, also, leaned against the cold stone. "I shift into a cougar - if you want, I could carry you the rest of the way...it would probably be easier on both of us."

I was limping heavily, my breathing came out in short ragged breathes. If Chloe hadn't come along... I would've died up here. Every that I saw with my eyes seemed to blur, I gave a brief nod at the acceptance of a ride. If anything, the vixen in me was pretty rattled from that almost suicide attempt. I looked at my arm, the one with the deep gash. It just kept.. bleeding... "That'll definitely come back to haunt me.." I said to myself. I didn't feel like talking, in fact, a lost of adventure had risen in me. I felt that if I went down to the place by myself, I'd be a hero. But, who was I kidding. That was just fantasy. And fantasy doesn't exist.
But then why the hell do I turn into a fox?!
My thoughts lingered over this, and I coughed. Covering my mouth, I felt something wet. Looking to my hand, there was blood. 'Definitely NOT good.' I thought to myself. The pain was overwhelming to no extent, and I watched what Chloe did. Feeling as if I was to keel over, I landed fell on my knees with a grunt.
NOT DONE
