This academy is a secluded town where humans categorized as "shifters" can come to seek refuge. Humans of all ages, though mainly teenagers, come here as a last resort for a seemingly 'normal' life, or at least as normal as they care to make it. Here, shifters are taught how to control their abilities and use their animal shifts to help them advance and grow stronger, both physically and mentally.
If you care to join the academy, please register as your character's name. When you customize your name in your profile, make sure you have the first, middle and last name in ALL CAPS, and do not use special characters. Finally, when you choose your gender upon registration, make it the gender of your character =)

8.14.09 Hey guys! Summer is ending...soooo...
&. Please get active again! I realize school is starting, but hopefully that means an easier schedule for everyone that allows some RP time.
&. Also, everyone needs to sign up on the ACTIVITY CHECK. Please do not respond to the check if you do not plan on staying active.

Month: March Temperature: 64-69 F Advisory: Spring is setting in at the Variel Academy. It is now officially allergy season, with everything blooming. Nights are still pretty chilly, but days are bright and relaxing. There have been a few scattered showers, but there are no signs of any spring thunderstorms at this time.

&&. female dorm (5 sub-boards) Girls under 25 are subject to living in these dorms while at the Variel Academy. These one bedroom, one bathroom facilities typically house two roommates, whom you may choose or randomly get paired with. Boys are not allowed between 10:30pm and 7:30am.
&&. male dorm (5 sub-boards) Boys under 25 are subject to living in these dorms while at the Variel Academy. These one bedroom, one bathroom facilities typically house two roommates, whom you may choose or randomly get paired with. Girls are not allowed between 10:30pm and 7:30am.
&&. cafe Cafe, cafeteria, same general thing. This is the place to go to get the most bang for your buck. The food here is mid level - not the typical "cafeteria food", but not quite the quality you would find at a restaurant.

&&. fast food diner In a hurry and just need to grab a quick bite? Or maybe you're a little short on cash? Well this is like any, regular ol' fast food place. Hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, you name it, they got it...all for under $5!
&&. international restaurant If you're looking for more of an up-scale restaurant feel, then this is the place to eat. The dishes here range from Mexican to Italian, from Asian to good old American. However, good taste comes with a higher price.

&&. refreshments Drinks, ice cream, snow cones, coffee, you name it! Any kind of nice, refreshing drink is sold here (including alcohol!) The winter months are rather slow, but come summer, and this place is the talk of the town.
&&. park The park is the largest expanse of property in town, except, of course, for the surrounding forest. A swing set and playground rest in a large box of sand on one portion of the park, while the other is covered with vegetation. A small, gravel path weaves throughout the trees of the park, around a small pond.
&&. pool The community pool is rather large, suited to fit the needs of humans as well as any aquatic shifts. There is no lifeguard on duty, so it is up to people at the pool to keep an eye on each other.
&&. carnival The carnival comes around a few times a year, and offers new excitement for the inhabitants of Variel Academy. Whether you like rides or simply playing some games, the carnival is a must-see attraction.
&&. mountainous forest (1 sub-board) Three fourths of the Variel Academy is surrounded by dense trees, covering tall mountains that run on for miles. However, this area serves more purpose than just being a nice place to hang out, it offers protection to the shifters living at the academy by keeping out intruders (for the most part).
&&. coastline The final fourth of the Variel Academy is bordered by the ocean, creating a tranquil and beautiful beach. Fishing and swimming are the two main activities here, and even in the winter it seems to always be flourishing.
&&. mall Stores of all makes and models line the hallways of this mall. From cheap to high-priced, clothes to electronics, it is all here. And, with its extra large general store, this is the one-stop-shop for all of your needs.
&&. the rec Wanting to lose a few pounds? Or maybe work out those muscles in your shifter's wings? Well then head on down to the recreation center for a great workout. Not to mention, there are several sport courts spread around the facility and a track that runs the perimeter of the building.
&&. school Classes are held every so often, though they are not typical classes. The important information in the case of these inhabitants is how to manage and use their shifting abilities to benefit themselves and others. But other than classes, there is also a library full of books and information.
&&. activity center If you're ready for a day of fun, or you just want to get together with a few friends, then you have come to the right place. At the activity center, you can choose from bowling, playing a game of lazer tag, or even shooting some billiards.
