(continued from the refreshment...place...)
Chase had steadily helped Corri up the stairs, and assisted her into her dorm room. Chase let go momentarily to place her keys on the counter, then a thud was heard behind him. He whipped around, and saw Corri folded in on herself on the ground. Chase reached down to her, his thick arms flexing as they pulled her back up, and he shook his head from side to side in frustration. Finally, Corri was able to respond to Chase, though it was not enough to feed the hunger welling up inside of the boy. "You like a guy, and he doesn't like you back? What, are you stalking him? Does he not know you exist? Has he ever seen you?" Chase chuckled out loud, then lowered Corri onto her bed. He walked over to her dresser and pulled out some pajama pants, or what he assumed to be pajama pants, and a clean tshirt. "I can't see how any guy would turn you down...here, get into something more comfortable." At this point, Chase almost felt like an older brother to the girl, rather than a friend. Caring for other people, no matter who, no matter the situation, was always something that Chase was characterised for. He always would put them ahead of himself, even if it wasn't always needed. He waited for the girl to change, turning his back out of respect. He laughed once more, still thinking about her response. "Do you need me to beat hiim up for you? Maybe that'll knock some sense into him." Maybe, if Chase had allowed himself some time to think, the possibility of this guy being himself would have crossed his mind. But, on this particular night, at this particular time, the thought was completely abscent, all he could think about was keeping her safe.

Corrina laughed lightly to herself as Chase helped her up. When she stood, her body swayed lightly because of how fast she stood or rather, was pulled to her feet. To his first question, she giggled. "Nope!" To his second, she laughed light heartedly. "Nah. Thats lame." To the next two she smiled and looked straight at him, even if he didnt realize it. "He does. He has." With a smile, she walked happily over to the side of her bed where she plopped down and watched as Chase pulled out some pants and a tshirt for her. How nice of him. As Chase spoke again, Corri stood herself steadily. At the rate she had been drinking lately, she was slightly getting better as not getting drunk after an hour or so to let it soak in. When Chase turned around, Corri let her jeans fall to the ground. One of his last sentences was heard now. Should Chase beat the kid up. To this, Corri laughed and pulled her shirt up and over her head as well as unclipped her strapless bra. As she was pulling the clean shirt over her head she heard his last sentence. "Maybe that'll knock some sense into him." She smiled and slowly made her way over to him. He was still turned around. Such a gentleman. Lightly, she placed her hand on his shoulder and turned him to face her. She had lost her sunglasses when she fell and since then she had taken her hair out of the messy bun it had been kept in. Now, her hair fell messily around her shoulders and yet, it looked planned. Her legs were bare since she had chosen not to pull those pants on. "You know...you've seen menaked beforr.." She giggled and gripped his shoulder a little tighter to stop herself from swaying lightly. "Is not that he doesnt likeee me. But iduntknow. He doesnt wana date me."

Chase frowned as Corri responded, wondering why any guy wouldn't want her. Well maybe the person wasn't good enough for her, maybe that would be an ok situation, even if Corri did feel for him. Suddenly, Chase felt the light touch of female hands on his shoulders, and his body was turned to face the naked girl. She spoke once more, her speech still slurred from the alcohol. Chase sighed deeply, shaking his head in disapproval. His hands rested on her wrists, lifting them up and away from his shoulders, then allowing them to drop to her sides. He stood where he was, not bothering to turn back around, but he kept his gaze focused on her face, and only her face.
"Corri, we can't do this now...you're drunk, and I can't take advantage of you like that. Please, put your clothes on, maybe we can do this another time..." While Chase worked on straightening Corri out, he also had to keep steady account of himself. Even the slightest slip up could cause him to fall into the trap that his physiological state was setting for him. Self control, with a drunk girl flaunting herself infront of you, was extremely difficult to achieve.
Chase looked away from Corri, then walked over to the desk chair, placing himself down on it, still trying to avoid looking at Corri. He changed the subject from what they had been speaking about, back to this mystery guy. A frown crossed over his face again, "Well...just give it time...if its meant to happen, then it will. Besides, you couldn't know this guy anymore than what, a month? No...it can't be that long, we haven't even really known each other that long, and I'm assuming he came around after you met me. So see, yall just need to get to know each other more, I'm sure he'll come around eventually."

Corrina sighed as she felt his strong hands on her wrists, removing them from his shoulders and letting them fall to her sides. She didn't nod. She didn't laugh. She didn't smile. She didn't frown. She just watched as he walked away to sit down and wait for her to get dressed. With another sigh, she turned and walked slowly to where the pile of clothes laied. She pulled on the pants he got out for her and slipped the clean shirt over her head. She sighed as the overwhelming feeling that it was time for bed came over her. She loved that feeling. Sometimes bed time was the best part of the day. With a gentle plop, Corri sat down on the mattress and looked across the dark room to Chase as he was just about done speaking.
She let him finish and as she thought his words over for a moment, she smiled. "Chase, the guys youu!" She said those four words happily as she laughed lightly, listening as it echoed in the half empty room. She sighed and fell back on to the bed, looking up at the ceiling and away from Chase. "I get drunkk cuz i avent seen you in three erso weeks and i miss youu. You wouldntt dae me.." She managed to keep a smile on her face while, if she hadn't been drunk she would be crying. Oh the wonders of alcohol. It's as if the weight of the world was once on your shoulders and now, until the hangover, it's been relieved. And damn does it feel good.
Corrina blinked a few times as she smiled up at the ceiling. She was waiting for Chase's repsponse to her statement. Would he even believe her when she was drunk? He should.

The boy could tell that Corri was not happy with the downturn of her advances towards him, but he wasn't going to give into her in this state. As she pulled on the rest of her clothes, he looked up with a smile as the girl plopped herself into bed. Suddenly, Corri spoke again, the words hitting Chase like a slap to the face. He sat there for a moment, not moving nor speaking - his mouth might've even been hanging open a bit, he couldn't remember - but allowing the statement to sink into his mind. How had he not realized it? How had he totally overlooked the relationship that they had? But now...what could Chase do? Corri spoke again, uttering seemingly innocent words that stabbed into Chase like a knife to the heart. He was the reason that she was doing this to herself?
Finally, Chase stood, and walked over to Corri, seating himself on the bed next to her. His back was hunched over, and his hands were clasped together and resting on his legs infront of him. He looked at them - blankly - looking through rather than at the rough callouses. "Corri...I think this conversation would be better dealt with when you sober up." Without looking at the girl, Chase stood back up and pulled the covers down and away from Corri's pillow, allowing her the space to climb in. "Now...get some sleep, and we'll talk in the morning." With that, Chase looked around, and after figuring the roommate would not be home, yet again, chose to lay down to rest on her bed. Within moments, Chase was asleep...hopefully, everything would work out tomorrow.

Corrina listened to the boys words before sliding under the covers and letting him pull them tightly up and around her. She smiled as she watched him walk across the room to lay in her roomates bed. That was the last thing she saw that night. Chase asleep in the bed across the room.
----------------------------
When Corri woke up the next morning it was to a killer stomach ache and bright light comming in from the window. She remembered getting drunk and she remembered talking to Chase. She didn't really lose her memory after getting drunk since she had been doing it rather often. No matter though. Sometimes she wished her memory would all fade. Her memory of Chase perhaps. Then she wouldn't have had to drink in the first place. Corri sat up quickly in bed and ran her hands over her face before running a hand through her lightly curled hair.
Her eyes gazed around the bright room until they fell on the figure in her roomates bed. Chase. That was right. He had stayed the night with her so they could talk in the morning. She was slightly dreading that. The whole...talking part. She didn't want to go over why he didn't want to date her. That would make things seem worse in her mind. And she didnt want him to ask her out just because he wanted to keep her safe. That would piss her off...and upset her.
With a sigh, Corrina quietly slid her legs over the side of the bed and stood up. As to not wake Chase, she walked smoothly across the floor to the dresser where she pulled out a pair of white shorts and a leopard print shirt as well as a yellow thong and a matching yellow bra. Oh so quietly, she walked back over to her side of the room and turned to face away from Chase. Her pants slid off, then her underwear. Next her shirt. She didn't wear a bra to bed that night. With a sigh she wiggled into the tight little yellow thong and snapped on the matching bra. No need to put a shirt on yet, but she did manage to pull the short, tight white shorts on before walking over to a mirror and running a brush lightly through her hair.
She would leave it down today, to curl way past her shoulders and down her back. Silver connected circle earrings were put in and two silver bracelets were slid on when Corri noticed that Chase was awake. She stood there, her face turned towards him with a smile. She lacked a shirt. But that was ok.

There was a stirring in the room, and while quiet, it still managed to wake up the sleeping Chase. He rolled over, stretching his arms up with a bear-like yawn. He reached over onto the floor, picking up the shirt he had pulled off during the night - he was a guy, he got hot easily. From there, he sat up in the bed, setting the shirt down infront of him and looking over at Corri. Her gorgeous smile was already lighting up her feminine face, causing Chase to return the remark with his own, rough features. "Morning - feeling alright?" With that, he pulled his shirt over his head, wondering if Corri was going to do the same, or leave him longing for something more, yet knowing he shouldn't take it.
He let out a sigh, allowing his shoulders rise and fall deeply, thinking back to what Corri had said last night. One hand reached up, resting on the back of his own neck, squeezing it as he tried to relax out the stiffness while thinking of what to say. "Cor-ri..." his voice cracked when he finally decided to speak. After clearing his throat, he tried to continue his inquisition. "Corri...do you, remember last night? What you told me? Was that...true?" His hesitation on the topic was extremely straightforward...what was he to say? He had already told her his feelings on the matter, and stated that something in the future was definitely possible. But, for now, Chase still felt the same way as he did a month ago. "I don't want you doing this to yourself because of me, but I'm not sure what you want me to do to fix it..."

Corrina smiled and nodded as he asked if she was feeling alright. Other then the fact that she was starving, she was fine. When he pulled his shirt on over his muscular body, she sighed. Corri liked the sight of Chase sitting across the room from her with a shirt off. It was nice. Corri could tell that he was thinking. It seemed to be about something important. Honest to god she was dreading the conversation she knew would come up. With a sigh of her own she turned to face the mirror again and began applying eyeliner. As her name leaked out of Chase's mouth with hesitation, she paused momentarily before continuing the application to her left eye. He stuttered once or twice, seemingly unsure that he wanted to say what he was saying. By now she had finished her left eye and started on her right. When he finished speaking she just nodded and said mhmm before continuing on with her application.
"I don't want you doing this to yourself because of me, but I'm not sure what you want me to do to fix it..." Corrina had finished putting eyeliner on her lower and upper eyelid lines. As Chase finished up his sentence, she turned to pick her shirt off her bed and pulled it over her head before facing Chase with a smile. "You shouldn't have done what you did last night." She spoke softly, with a kind smile on her face. "You shouldn't have helped me." Another smile before she turned to face the mirror once again, this time applying mascara. He shouldn't have helped. He had to know this conversation would take place. He should have made sure she was home and told her to be safe and just left. He must have had some sort of attachment. He just didn't want it to go anywhere.

Chase watched intently, silently, as the girl continued to apply makeup to her delicate face. Finally, she pulled her shirt over her head, speaking to Chase in a rather round-a-bout manner. A confused look crossed over his face, and he looked away for a minute, giving Corri enough time to resume her place at the mirror. Chase stood, then took a few strides over to Corri, touching her lightly on the shoulder to turn her towards him. "Corri..." again, his voice was rather hesitant, but much more confused than earlier. "Corri, listen to me. I worry about you, I care about you, and I don't want you to get hurt...I couldn't just leave you there with those jerks."
Chase slid his hands down from Corri's shoulders, over her arms, wrists, and into her hands, grasping them lightly infront of them. He looked at her intently, eye to eye, trying for a moment to read a bit more into what she had said. "Please, Corri..." At this point, the boy's blue orbs were pleading, begging with the girl to give a tangible answer to Chase. "Corri, you can't keep this all inside...things will never get better. We need to talk this out, I want you to tell me what to do...I honest to God care about you, I'm just at a loss, and you changing the subject is not helping." Chase was on the verge of frustration...he hated dealing with girls, especially in situations such as these. He always felt so out of the loop, so far behind the female intellect...like he should know what to do, but just cannot grasp it. "What can I do to make things right?"

Corrina gently applied her makeup as she began to think what was to come next. She didn't want Chase to leave her alone. She didn't want him to hate her. She wanted him to love her. But he wouldn't. And she wasn't going to rush. When she felt his hand lightly lay on her shoulder, her whole body tensed up. He turned her to face him and sighed. She sighed too. The conversation was beginning to get sorta hard to continue. At least for her. She didn't much like it. His words were a response to what she had said earlier. He worried. He cared. He didn't want her to get hurt. It was nice to know he cared. But it didn't change that they werent ready to date. Where was a time machine when you need one. Ending his sentence, he told her that he wouldnt just leave her there with the guys. She had to admit, she was thankful for that. Who knows what could have happened to her.
She listened as his hand trailed down her arm. It sent shocks of lust racing through her body. She wanted him. Couldn't have him. With a sigh she let her eyes drift away from his, past him to focus on the blank wall. She was aware that it wasn't going to get better. And she agreed that they needed to talk it out. But it was hard. Another sigh and her eyes refocused on his own. "What can I do to make things right?" Now she was at a loss. Corrina didn't exactly know what he should do. She guessed if they dated she would feel better, but telling a guy to date you implyed they didnt want that on their own. And she wasn't ok with that. She wanted him to make the decision without her influincing it. She wanted him to want her on his own. With a sigh, she gripped his hands and smiled. "Chase, theres a lot of things you can do. You just have to think which one you want more. Which one will have a better future for you." She smirked. "A little confusing, I know. But heres two options. Leave me. Let me go. Just try not to care if you see me on the streets. Try to pretend its someone else. Or you can be there. You can check in on me. You can like me." She paused, her hands softened up. Her eyes drifted down to the floor before snapping back to his own. You could see the small drops of water building in her eyes and yet refusing to roll down her cheeks. "You can love me." Yeah, she didn't follow her own mind set. Oh well.

Chase watched the girl with forlorn eyes, wondering what he should do to comfort her. Unfortunately, this was one of those situations that Chase had always dreaded. There was no right answer, no correct way to do things, no way for someone to walk away without getting hurt. As the girl finished, he stood up, and peered deep into her eyes. ”Corri, there’s no way I’m just going to forget about you, to rid you from my life, to stop caring about you. You’re an amazing person - I have so much fun when I am with you, I enjoy talking to you, and I like everything about you. You’re a wonderful friend, and now that I’ve met you, I don’t know what I would do without you in my life.” The words that flowed from his mouth were sincere, honest - spoken as if he were on the verge of some form of love. ”I do want to be there for you, Corri. I want to hear your voice, I want to see your beautiful smile, I want to be able to talk with you and have fun with you.” But…there was always a “but” in every situation, and this was no exception. While Chase did want to be there, while he did want to check on her to make sure she was ok, while he did want to like her…it was not for the same reasons as Corri wanted. ”But Corri, as I said before, I don’t feel all of the same emotions as you. I love you as a friend, Corri, I honestly do. Right now, that’s as far as I’m willing to go, but that doesn’t mean that it will always be that way. It doesn’t mean that time may change things, for both of us, and it doesn’t mean that you should feel bad about anything.”
Though he spoke the truth, he still felt as though it would never be enough. Girls were complicated, and Corri was no exception. Maybe it would be easier, on her, for them to not see each other…but who really knew? There was a possibility of falling for the girl - Chase had experienced this many times in the past. He had started off as friends, but wound up with emotions he never even dreamed of. Whose to say this would be any different? Or perhaps different, just in a different way. They just needed time…Corri was rushing everything, something that made Chase (and probably any boy, for that matter) somewhat uncomfortable. But how could he explain all of this to Corri without her getting upset or angry? It was all too confusing for poor Chase.

Corrina enjoyed the fact that Chase was a tall guy. Not a giant, but he looked down at her a bit which made her feel protected. She could tell what he was going to say was going to hurt her in some way. She could also tell that it was going to hurt him since he knew she would be upset. The first words that came out of his mouth werent that bad. They were all about how he would never be able to forget her. How he loved her as a friend and how he wanted her in his life. That was good right? She wanted to be in his life, so to be wanted in his life was a good thing.
There was a pause before he continued. His words caused a smile to tear at her cheeks. ”I do want to be there for you, Corri. I want to hear your voice, I want to see your beautiful smile, I want to be able to talk with you and have fun with you.” He was just so perfect. So nice. But here it comes. The but. The worst part of it all. As soon as he stopped speaking for longer then a few moments she felt her heart sink to her stomach. Her eyes swelled with tears again. Her smile was quickly replaced by a frown. There was nothing more for him to do then deny her love.
He didn't love her the way she felt she loved him. Instead, he loved her as a friend. He was her protecter almost. Such as a big brother. Then again they had sex and siblings didn't often do that. Either way, you know what I mean. So there they stood in the silence for a while. It was a bit awkward, but Corrina didn't care. She let the tears roll down her cheeks. She let her hands which had previously been tapping against her thighs relax and go numb. The world was still for a moment before her eyes focused on Chases. She took a breath. "Okay..." That was it. Okay. She had nothing else to say.
When the word exited her mouth, she turned to face away from him and walked toward the door rather slowly and unsteadily. Gently, she turned the handle and pulled it open a bit. "Uhm.." She couldn't be hurt anymore. She didn't want to be hurt anymore. She wanted him to leave.
